This is a temperature-controlled transmission component in the engine cooling system of heavy-duty vehicles. It transmits power by virtue of the viscosity of silicone oil and serves as the core control device for traditional mechanical fans.
Core Functions
It automatically adjusts the fan speed by sensing the temperature of the airflow behind the radiator through a temperature sensor (bimetallic strip spring):
When the engine water temperature is low (≤65℃): The temperature sensor closes the silicone oil channel, the clutch is in a disengaged state, and the fan idles with the pump shaft at a low speed, reducing engine power consumption.
When the engine water temperature rises (≥80℃): The temperature sensor deforms when heated to open the silicone oil channel. Silicone oil enters the working chamber and drives the fan hub to rotate by virtue of viscosity, making the fan run at high speed and enhancing heat dissipation efficiency.
When the water temperature drops: The temperature sensor resets to close the silicone oil channel, silicone oil flows back to the oil storage chamber, and the fan speed decreases, realizing on-demand heat dissipation.
Applicable Models
It is suitable for Weichai, Xichai, Cummins series engines of most heavy-duty trucks such as Sinotruk Howo, Sitrak, Dongfeng Tianlong, FAW Jiefang J6. It is the mainstream configuration of heavy-duty vehicle cooling systems, replacing traditional rigidly connected fans.
Product Features
Pure mechanical temperature control: No circuit or air circuit control is required, with simple structure and high reliability. The failure rate is much lower than that of electromagnetic fan clutches.
Energy saving and noise reduction: The fan runs at low speed under non-high-temperature working conditions, reducing engine power loss and fan operation noise.
Material and structure: The shell is made of stamped steel plate, and the interior is equipped with an oil storage chamber, a working chamber and an oil return hole; the temperature sensor is installed at the front end of the clutch to directly sense the airflow temperature with precise response.
Maintenance points: High sealing performance is required. If silicone oil leakage occurs, the fan speed will be out of control (continuous operation or non-operation), and the oil seal or clutch assembly needs to be replaced in time.
